There are many myths about self-care including the belief that it’s selfish. As a result, it is common for us to overcommit and make self-care a low priority in our lives. Some potential consequences are exhaustion, burnout, and dis-ease. These symptoms are all signs that we have neglected ourselves for far too long. The purpose of this class is to dispel the myths associated with taking care of ourselves and provide tips on how to practice self-care consistently without feeling guilty.

  • RSVP option is for Happiness U dues-paying members with unlimited access only.
  • If you are not a dues-paying member with unlimited access, reserve your space through the BOOK YOUR TICKET option.

Candace Thoth is the founder and CEO of Return to Aloha. She is also a Self-Love Ambassador and the Hawaii State Coordinator of the Love Foundation. Her mission is to inspire individuals to love themselves unconditionally.

Candace’s experiences of being enrolled in a desegregation program in St. Louis, Missouri influenced her decision to obtain her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She then enrolled in a Clinical Psychology doctoral program. While training to be a psychotherapist, Candace realized that the essential components of well-being are self-love and authenticity. After completing an APA-accredited doctoral internship, she felt called to look at her own levels of authenticity, which resulted in her decision to leave the field of Clinical Psychology in order to pursue her true passions of spirituality and Integrative Medicine.

Upon moving to Hawaii in 2013, Candace founded Return to Aloha, a personal development business created to inspire people to listen to their inner guidance. She facilitates courses that help individuals practice mindfulness, establish healthy relationships with themselves, and live in alignment with their values. Candace was a part of the movement that helped Global Love Day receive official recognition in Hawai’i, and she was recently featured on June Dillinger’s television show “It’s All About Love.” Recently, Candace co-launched an initiative called Self-Love Ambassadors to demonstrate how self-love can transform organizations and corporations.
