It’s interesting how the theme of what my clients go through come in waves of the same life focus. For the past few weeks I have worked with more than a dozen people who have all said to me that they want to live a more heart-filled life and “be happier” but they can’t seem to move through their fears. Although these messages come from the heart, after living in our brains for so long, it can be quite challenging to trust our heart’s voice and get past our fears in order to move to that next level.
The Epiphany
Does any of this sound familiar? “I don’t want to do this type of work anymore.” ” I am tired of doing things that I don’t want to do.” ” I don’t want to live so far from town.” “I don’t want to feel so burdened by my life.” “I want to do something to help others.” “I want to quit my job.” “I don’t want to work so hard.” “I want to say no to my children, my parents, my in-laws, my friends.”…”I WANT TO BE HAPPIER. I WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. I WANT TO BE FREE…but I can’t get going!”
The Internal Conversation
You know you want to make a change but you just can’t move on it. How long have you been having this conversation with yourself?
Your heart says, “I want to cut back” and your brain says, “Well, then, get used to having less.”
Your heart says, “I want to slow down” and your brain says, “If you do so, you’ll lose what you have gained.”
Your heart says, “I want to start my own business,” and your brain says, “You’ll have hard times ahead if you do.”
Your heart says, “I want to have a happy life,” and your brain says, “That’s not possible in this lifetime.”
Making a Change
One of the reasons why we avoid taking action is because at some level we don’t believe we deserve more. We often have fantasies that something or someone will come along and make it better. I know a lot of people that are waiting for the day when their life will get better.
Well, in order for your life to change, you have to make a change. No one has the power to make a change except you.
If subconsciously you have fears that there will be more negatives consequences than positive outcomes, you will stay where you are. Your fears drive your every action.
According to Dr. Demartini there are seven main fears that hold us back from taking action:
- Fear of failure
- Fear of not being smart enough
- Fear of rejection by loved ones
- Fear of not having the looks or the energy
- Fear of being rejected
- Fear of not knowing enough
- Fear of losing money
Once you identify what is holding you back, write down a hundred benefits for each fear should it come to pass in order to balance your perception and dissipate your fears.
Change your Story
How long are you going to continue with the same story? Start collapsing those fears (a perceived negative) by coupling them with a positive potential and you will change your perspective and feel inspired within to take action.
