Why is Happiness U Offering Scholarships?
Most of us are surviving in various states of happiness. This scholarship program aims to find people who are ready to take the next step up in their journey to really thrive in a way that not only helps them personally but helps those around them. Pushing personal well-being to the next level is contagious.
Happiness has become much more than a personal aspiration. It has become a national and global priority. Leaders worldwide are studying happiness and heralding it as an important measure of social progress and the goal of public policy. The personal-finance website WalletHub released its state of happiness in August and studied all 50 U.S. states across 28 indicators ranging from depression to sports participation to income growth. Hawaii scored 67.9 out of a 100 points in the analysis with high marks in the area of emotional health, physical well-being and work environment. Hawaii was also recognized as having the lowest share of adult depression and the fifth lowest divorce rate in the nation.
These joyful statistics are in contrast to a global study on happiness, which found that overall, Americans are increasingly unhappy. In 2007, the United States ranked 3rd and in 2016 it came 19th. The reasons are declining social support and increased corruption. Published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations, the first World Happiness Report was issued in April 2012, in support of the UN’s focus on happiness and well-being.
