We have all heard “blood is thicker than water” but did you know the original phrase is “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb?” This basically means that the bond with the people we choose is stronger than the people life chooses as family.

Ask yourself if they weren’t your brother, mother, son, auntie, etc., would they be your friend? It’s okay if the answer is no. It’s natural to not care for everyone you are related to. Maybe the journey is to just be “okay’ with it. Be gracious, kind, and friendly. Learn from them and do what you feel is right. However, don’t feel there’s something wrong with you (or them) if you secretly wish you weren’t related. You just resonate at a different vibe.
